The message on the door reads: The way of Pooh, To use this loo there's room for 2. Put sawdust on your poooo.
I find the idea of compost toilets a little bit too far advanced to stomach. I suppose that I have been to just too many outdoor music concerts with soil toilets, and that has given the whole idea a hugely negative association!
So, I read this article with both trepidation and interest. To form your own opinion please do either go look at the post first or continue to read on here to find out a bit more about this article.
Yet, the use of compost toilets would raise the quality of available organic matter to compost to a new level, if all the hygiene aspects can be properly resolved.

Here is a sample from the article to let you know the ideas and motivation which led the diea of a compost toilet to make perfect sense for the Bexley allotment holders:
A waterless container is used as the toilet and a handful of sawdust is sprinkled on the waste.
Once the container is full, which takes around a year, it is moved to a compound and left for another year to break down and create compost.
Secretary of Alers Road Leisure Gardens Association, John Hollands, said: “It’s no longer just old men in flat caps with whippets. We have lots of ladies and families who go to the plot who need facilities that are less basic then most allotment sites offer.
“A few years ago we bought a portable loo but they are smelly and not very nice. We felt our allotment holders wanted something better.”
