So there you are. It’s official go compost your leaves. Nobody wants the cost to your local waste authority of sending them all those leaves, and just about everyone will complain if you burn your leaves in a built-up area, due to the smoke you will produce across the neighborhood.
Leaves are not as high in nutrients as the summer growth, due to the manner in which trees avoid waste and re-absorb and remove many of the nutrients from their leaves before they die, but they will still build soil quality from the woody matter, and composting then works best if mixed with grass cuttings and annual planting which ceased flowering and has been removed from flower borders.
